I'm Ryan Pickett and I am a born and raised Las Vegas native. I am the host of Tempo Contempo on Sunday mornings from 6am to 8am and also the co-host on Pamela's Place from 11am to noon on Sundays as well. I am studying broadcast production at UNLV and am expected to graduate in 2008. I first got into smooth jazz at the age of 15 when my parents surprised me on my birthday with a cd I had never heard of and a new electric guitar. It was Black Diamond from The Rippingtons and it wound up totally changing my outlook on life. About 2 years later I had met Paul Taylor for the first time through a friend and when I heard Paul's "Groove Zone" I knew that this was the sound I had been looking for. At Dixie State College in Utah I made my first radio debut on KOEZ 105.1 "The Disc" in late 2003. I later went on to be the host of the children's radio show called "The Sandbox" on Saturday mornings as a cheery, squeeky character named "Kaptain KaBOOM!" In fall of 2006 I returned to Las Vegas to finish up school at UNLV and a few months later in January of 2007, I found a home to bring back my smooth jazz program to a very kind and receptive audience at KUNV. I started on Pamela's Place as a co-host and on the 1st of April, branched out to extend the smooth jazz lineup on Sunday mornings with my own show. My premise for Tempo Contempo is to produce a set of music that listeners can relax and enjoy without having to turn the dial at the onset of an "out-of-genre" song. My listeners are my world and I want to keep them happy and entertained as they go on about their day. If you have questions about the show or just want to say hello, drop an email my way at " cectvgeek@gmail.com" - Peace and much love, Ryan
