  Jay Brice

Jay "Mongo" Brice grew up listening to WMMS in Cleveland during the infancy of FM Radio when FM still had an underground attitude. In 1980, still in high school, Mongo interned with Cleveland 's classical station, WCLV. There, he worked on the syndication of Karl Haas' Adventures in Good Music , editing the old school way: with razor blades and tape. Matriculating to the University of Richmond , Mongo, became Production Manager of WDCE for three years, a time when he was known on the air as "Dr. Strange." In those days, Mongo resided with three other DJs to form a household boasting a vast vinyl collection that served as the basis for reggae and blues shows, as well as his own eclectic fusion show, blending those genres with progressive rock and jazz fusion, thus anticipating in many ways what goes on today in The Lyons Den. Though Mr. Brice would ultimately earn undergraduate degrees in Philosophy, Political Science, and Law, and would go on to practice law, for Mongo, music, recording, and broadcasting would remain a constant passion.
